PLANET SESSIONS AT THE SHOW
Sunday, 7/10 at 11:30-12:00pm PDT
This panel will bring together experts in Imagery and Remote Sensing as they discuss the different aspects of high-frequency temporal data and the value of this data for geospatial applications. Topics will range from a discussion on type of temporal data available to Esri users, and the potential challenges with acquiring and processing the data for an area of interest.

Successful imagery-based workflows begin with choosing appropriate data sources. Satellite and aerial imagery provide a view of the Earth from above which power the ArcGIS Imagery System to create powerful insights for organizations across the globe. Whether your organization requires imagery for large-scale scientific applications or for small-scale commercial applications, navigating which data source to leverage in your GIS workflow can be daunting. In this session, a sampling of imagery and remote sensing data sources will be presented. Use cases will demonstrate how this data can be acquired and used in the ArcGIS system.

As the world's population grows, urban areas are guaranteed to expand and land-uses will continue to rapidly change from natural to urban uses. Understanding the extents and rates of urban growth is critical for managing impacts to the environment. New satellite constellations pose significant opportunities for mapping land use change with higher temporal frequency and higher accuracy. In this talk, we will look at how high cadence, multispectral satellite imagery can be used with classification and change detection tools in ArcGIS. Using these tools, we are able to detect changes in land-use more frequently and with greater accuracy.

War, pandemics, supply chain disruptions, biodiversity and climate crises are issues that go beyond what we can see. To address these complex problems, we must leverage a multitude of remote sensing technologies. Planet has spent 10 years pioneering agile aerospace with our earth observation satellites. We are now integrating non-optical data sources and moving into multi-modal sensor fusion to enhance our customers’ ability to understand what is happening on Earth. Learn how Planet data easily integrates with ESRI to power simple and seamless assembly of workflows and smarter decision making.
