Frequently Asked Questions
What do Planet Explorers get access to?
You will be invited to access the beta Planet Platform, and access to our broad coverage, 3-5 meter resolution imagery archive of California data licensed under CC-BY-SA. The Planet Platform includes API access to the catalog and GeoTIFF data of our Open California imagery and composited mosaics. In addition, we have Web Applications to browse, discover, and download our imagery
How do I know when I'll receive access?
We are actively sending out batches of invitations every week. Until you receive yours, feel free to check out new imagery in our gallery, and with our Chrome plugin.
What does it mean to be a Planet Explorer?
In addition to beta Planet Platform and data access, Planet Explorers will have the opportunity to provide feedback or participate in usability research to help us improve our products for wider release. In addition, you’ll have a front-row seat to our evolving toolset, and growing dataset.
What do people do with your data?
The power of our data comes from its frequency, recency, and broad coverage. In agriculture, customers use our data to improve farming methods. In energy, imagery shows transmission corridors and development sites. For mapping, we provide fresh and consistent imagery that shows growth and change throughout the world.
