This Cookie Notice provides information about how and when Planet Labs PBC (“Planet,” “we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit Planet websites (collectively as used in this Cookie Notice, the “Site”) and use or access Planet products, services, and/or applications (the “Services”). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and how you can control our use of them.
Cookies are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are unique to your browser. Website owners (like Planet) can use cookies for a variety of reasons that can include enabling their websites to work (or work more efficiently), providing personalized content and advertising, and conducting analytics.
Cookies set by a website owner are called “first party cookies.” Cookies set by parties other than a website owner are called “third party cookies” and include cookies set by our service providers or third-party partners. Third-party cookies enable certain features or functionalities, and advertising, to be provided on the Services (e.g., ads, interactive content, social media sharing). The parties that set third party cookies can recognize your device both when the device visits the website in question and also when the device visits other websites that have partnered with the third parties that set the cookies.
Session-based cookies last only while your browser is open on your device and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last until you or your browser delete them or until they expire.
In connection with our Site and Services, and in accordance with our Privacy Policy, we may make use of first or third party cookies, whether session or persistent cookies, and other similar technologies. Other cookies enable us to provide functionalities on the Site and Services, or to enhance visitors’ experience on our Site by providing them with personalized content and advertising. The cookies we use are described in the table below.
Strictly necessary cookies: These cookies are required for technical reasons and are strictly necessary to provide you with services available through our Site and Services, such as for authentication, and to use some of its features, such as access to secure areas. Strictly necessary cookies on our Site include cookies such as:
Functional cookies: These cookies enable the Site and Services to provide enhanced functionality and personalization, but are not essential to their use. The aim of these cookies is to provide you with a more personal experience so that you don't have to reset your preferences each time you use our Site or Services. Without these cookies, certain functionality may become unavailable, such as the Site storing your login information. Functional cookies may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, then some or all of these services may not function properly. Functional cookies on our Site include cookies such as:
Analytics or performance cookies: These cookies are used to recognize and count visitors and their actions to understand usage and improve the Site and Services. Analytics or performance cookies on our Site include cookies such as:
Advertising cookies:These cookies record visits and actions taken on the Site and Services in order to advertise the Services to you and to make our advertising messages on other websites more relevant to you. These may be based on third-party cookies or other technologies, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you opt out of targeting advertising cookies, you may still see our ads on third-party websites and applications. However, they will not be targeted to you through the use of third-party cookies in our Site or Services. Advertising cookies on our Site include cookies such as:
We and our partners (such as advertising and analytics vendors) may use other technologies similar to cookies from time to time, such as web beacons (also known as “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when you visit our Site or Services. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our Site and Service to another, deliver or communicate with cookies, understand if you came to our Site from an online ad displayed on a third-party website, and improve Site performance. These technologies often rely on cookies to function properly, so rejecting cookies can impair their functionality.
We allow services providers (including Google Analytics) or third parties to use tracking technologies on our Site and Services for analytics, advertising, and customer support purposes. These third parties may use their technologies to provide advertising tailored to your interests which may appear on other websites.
You can choose to disable cookies that are not strictly necessary cookies. If you choose to disable or reject cookies, you may still use our Site and Services, though your access to some functionality and areas may be restricted. Please note, unless otherwise noted, the choices below are browser or device based, and you should make the choices on each browser or device where you want them to apply. If you clear cookies or your browser is set to do so, your opt-out may no longer be valid, in which case you must opt out again where you want your choices to apply.

Please note that you must make the cookie choices you want to apply on both Planet.com and Vandersat.com as those Sites have separate cookie preference settings.
As described in this Cookie Notice, we may share certain information with third parties using cookies and other tracking technologies to understand how you interact with our Site and Services and to display relevant advertisements to you. Such information sharing may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California law or the processing of personal information under other US state law, such as Virginia. If you are a resident of such a state, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information by clicking “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer of our website (where available) and following the prompts or in certain states, including California, by broadcasting an Opt-Out Preference Signal, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) on the browsers and/or browser extensions that support such a signal. Any opt-out preferences you have exercised through these methods will only apply to the specific device/browser on which you made them and to the extent required by law.
