Seeing Is Believing

Designed specifically for human perception, SuperRes sharpens 3 m pixels into high-definition 2 m imagery, making small-scale objects and textures visible for the first time in a near-daily monitoring stream.* SuperRes makes small-scale objects and textures, such as individual trees and rooftop markings, visible for analysis.

Scale High-Definition Monitoring

The power of SuperRes isn’t just in the detail, it’s also in the scale. It can provide sharp 2 m resolution images across broad areas of interest, even global areas, over regular intervals.

Trust AI-Powered Details

Planet ensures that SuperRes looks natural while remaining faithful to the ground truth. It uses a model trained on our massive proprietary collection of more than 120,000 SkySat and PlanetScope satellite image pairs and comes with a pixel-level confidence layer to ensure transparency in the level of trust in the data.

The model uses Enhanced Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (ESRGAN) and perceptual loss training to produce visually realistic, high-quality results. The included confidence layer helps to assess the degree of trust in the generated pixels by evaluating various sources of error.

Two Ways to See Clearer

SuperRes easily fits into your workflows via two offerings:

• SuperRes PlanetScope Scenes uses processing units (PUs) to provide on-demand, self-service access to SuperRes images for small-scale, near-daily analysis.
• SuperRes Mosaics, provides high-definition monitoring to broad regions of interest over regular intervals, such as weekly or monthly. SuperRes Mosaics is offered via Visual Mosaics, within Planet Mosaics.
