Planet Awarded New Contract with National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

News

Today, Planet is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a new $5.9 million contract with the US government’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for a six-month base period, with an option to extend an additional six months.

Planet has been a provider of data and services to NGA since 2016 as part of NGA’s commercial GEOINT strategy. The new contract is an important milestone for Planet as it demonstrates our continued relationship with NGA in its role in providing geospatial intelligence and analytics to the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG).

As part of the contract, Planet will provide NGA with subscription access to daily imagery over select areas of the world. Planet’s high revisit rates and reliable global coverage enable persistent monitoring, ensuring the US government has the most recent and accurate information when making decisions, from monitoring internally displaced people camps to providing aid after natural disasters.

Earlier this year, Planet signed a five-year cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with NGA to explore the use of Planet’s analytic solutions in analyst workflows. In parallel with the CRADA, the new contract will enable NGA to leverage Planet’s data and services to help drive greater impact across its missions.
