16 More Doves Successfully Launch on ISRO’s PSLV C-43 Rocket

News

Last night, ISRO’s PSLV C-43 rocket successfully lofted 16 Dove satellites – Flock 3r – into space. The satellites have been successfully deployed and we’ve started the automated commissioning process while the Doves get adjusted to their new home 500 kilometers above Earth’s surface. All 16 Doves were deployed into a Sun Synchronous Orbit with a 10 am crossing time, joining our fleet of 100+ satellites and furthering our unmatched Earth observation coverage and revisit rates.

The four latest generation tech demos are responsible for testing several of the satellite subsystems and are equipped with improved camera and telescope designs. At Planet, we regularly launch tech demos to ensure we’re consistently using the latest and greatest technologies available.  These advancements are then folded into future operational Flocks.

Many thanks to ISRO/Antrix for getting us to space for the fourth time. Follow us @planetlabs for updates on Flock 3r and the rest of our fleet.
